Technorati To Launch Twittorati

If you’re familiar with blogging, then chances are you’re pretty familiar with Technorati, or at least were. Technorati was at one time a major player in the blogging community, but has fallen off recently with websites such as Digg and Twitter stealing away many users with a much more user-friendly approach.

With all of that said, it’s been rumored for quite some time that Technorati had plans to compete with Twitter, and do that they did. They’ve teamed up with Muckrack.com which is a similar service as Twitter, but not nearly as popular. The new service between the two companies will be called “Twittorati” and has already launched.

I’ve seen a lot of negative publicity on Twittorati from bloggers already and I can’t really figure out why. First off, it’s a brand new service which means the ability to get in from the start and gain followers is the best it will ever be. Second, it’s simply another popular avenue to publicize yourself and your blog - something there can never be enough of.

Some people say it’s just like Twitter, others have said it’s nothing like Twitter but that’s for you to decide. The fact remains though it’s another great way to get exposure for you and your blogs and that’s never something that should be frowned upon, especially if it is backed by a large website like Technoranti. I should also add it’s much easier to get mass exposure on the Twittorati front page when compared to the limited availability on Twitter’s front page.

Will Twittorati replace Twitter? No. But it’s a great alternative and it will be a very popular and useful site to promote your blog.
